PostHeaderIcon How To Keep Up With The Demand for Content On Your Membership Sites

The biggest demand on your time and energy when you are the owner of a membership site is the great demand for unique content. It doesn’t matter whether you’re running a free or paid membership site; your members are with you for the best information they can find anywhere.

There are several types of content you can include in your membership site. We will explore each type of content available to determine the content you can offer that may help you reduce the drain on your time and energy.

Coaching

If you offer coaching to your members on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis would not require a lot of information upfront. However, you would need to create a lot of content after the membership starts. Even if you coached for only one hour per month it takes a lot of material to cover that hour. You will also need to give your members content to read or study for the next 30 days until your next session together.

Ebooks and Reports

Here you would need to provide written materials for your membership site. If you are not a writer or prefer not to write you will need to outsource your writing. Ebooks and reports will take care of all of your members and some information can be repeated in a different way after several months as new members join.

Audio Products

Many people don’t like to read and prefer to listen to information. It may be easier and less time consuming to record your information and present it in audio format. You could offer audio products in addition to ebooks and reports to capture both groups of people as new members.

This may be the best way to save time and energy. If you write your materials you can record yourself reading your ebooks and reports to produce audio products. You can also offer your information in written format and charge extra for audio products that can be downloaded to the member’s computer immediately after purchase. You have just added another income stream.

Video Products

Video taping your materials may work best for you especially if you’re running a coaching membership site. Video taping makes your site more personal for the members. They get to see who you are and see your presentation of the information. You wouldn’t need to do a lot of writing because just an outline of what you want to present with a few main points is sufficient preparation.

If you’re not comfortable with presenting by video you can always use a whiteboard to illustrate your concepts while you talk in the background.

In order to make a membership site work you have to have genuine concern that your members are adequately supplied with excellent, fresh content regularly. You have to have a teacher’s heart for always learning new things and passing on what you’ve learned to your members.

Many people shy away from starting a membership site just for the fact that it is not usually a site that you can build and let run on autopilot…

PostHeaderIcon 7 Key Elements For a Profitable Membership Site

Membership sites have become such a hot investment that virtual real estate investors are now snatching them up as fast as they’re built to add to their portfolios. Membership sites, free or paid, are profitable sites to own for the long haul.

Paid sites need only a few members to cover costs and make a profit. Free sites acts as a mailing list where you send free information to the members and your own product offers or affiliate offers.

There are seven things you must have in a membership site to make it profitable.

Website

You’ll need a website in order to install the membership software. Some membership owners prefer to use a blog such as WordPress over a website. A blog is not better than a website; it’s just whatever is preferred. You will need to give your website a domain name and secure hosting.

Domain Name

Your domain name should contain one or two keywords in your niche. A “dot com” domain is preferable but you can also use “.net”, “.org”, or even “.info”. Name Cheap is a popular domain provider that many marketers use for their membership sites due to their low prices and reliability.

Hosting

Five of the more popular hosting sites are:

* Hostgator

* LunarPages

* Bluehost

* Justhost

* GoDaddy

Check them out to compare features and prices. Some are more compatible with membership sites than others.

Graphics

If you can’t produce your own graphics there are hundreds of thousands of graphic designers on the Web. A good place to check first to narrow down your search is the WarriorForum.com where excellent graphic artists advertise their services.

Sales Copy

Again the Warrior Forum is the suggested place to find a sales copywriter if you can’t or don’t want to produce your own. Your sales copy is so important to getting members that it’s best not to take shortcuts in this area.

Create Content

This is another area where you absolutely can’t cut corners. Your potential members are looking for the best content they can find in their niche. If your content isn’t up to good standards they will not join or stay long. So if you’re not good at writing content either outsource it or obtain excellent content from article sites to include in your membership site.

Membership Software

Here is where you need to spend most of your time in setting up your membership site. It is so important to choose the right software to run your membership site.

According to the Membership Software Guide found at subhub.com there are 13 important features your membership software should have in order to keep your membership site easy for members to use with maximum security features. It is important that the software you are considering contains all 13 of these features in order to minimize the possibility of problems.

You should take a look at how easy it is to install the software, how easy is it for you to operate and if there is technical support available 24/7 in case of problems.

It may seem like a lot of trouble to start a membership site (and it is) but it is well worth the price in money and time to set up a profitable membership site.

PostHeaderIcon 5 Easy Ways To Make Money From Membership Sites

There are a variety of ways to earn money from membership websites aside from the usual monthly subscription fees or the one-time access fee. It may be interesting to note that even free membership sites can be very profitable. If implemented correctly you can develop a steady stream of income from several different monetization methods. Here are a few techniques that will help you monetize your membership websites.

Promotion Lists

Your members are obviously hot prospects for the product you are promoting with your membership site. These are priceless paying customers who are willing to fork out money to get what they want. There is a high probability that they would be willing to reach for their wallets and pay for another product that compliments the one they have already purchased from you. So keep your eyes open for additional affiliate products that go hand-in-hand with your website. Send them promotional material about products they may be interested in purchasing. Just remember the offer should be relevant to your website and of good quality.

Sell Ad Space

Sell space for other business ads on your website. This is a great way to generate additional income. If there is more than one page on your site that generates a lot of traffic, sell space on that page as well. The space you do sell can be considered premium since your members take an interest in your niche.

Along with this, a membership site can earn revenue by participating in PPC programs. A PPC program or Pay Per Click, allows a business to place ads on your membership website and each time a customer clicks on the ad, you get paid.

By renting space on your website, promoting an additional service or product, and incorporating PPC or an affiliate program you can increase your bottom line.

Have a Bonus

Give free access to your membership website as a trial membership when promoting your products. After the free trial the new trial members can continue on as paid members. This is a great way to get more people to try out your system and once they are already in there enjoying it, they are much more likely to continue on with it.

Partnership and Joint Venture Opportunities

In order to get maximum profits from your membership website you should use joint venture and partnership opportunities. Partner up with a fellow internet marketer, promote to his list and vice versa. The two of you can share in the profits and reap a large financial reward.

Promote Additional Services or Products

Use your membership site for promoting services or products that are of your own creation and relevant to your members. For example, if you are a web designer you can advertise your services to the members and make additional income. You can add on additional services such as designing graphics, doing SEO or any thing else that is relevant. The bottom line is that you should make sure that you supply your members with good quality content and services. If you do this, you will have a steady steam of income for many years to come.

PostHeaderIcon Why You Want A Membership Site and Should Start One TODAY!

I am a big fan of the membership site business model for several reasons. It’s a fantastic way to generate monthly recurring income – mostly on autopilot!

It’s such an ingenious system because you sell to your customer once, but you keep getting paid by them month after month. Rather than when you just sell a product and you sell it once, get paid once, and then have to sell it again.

Your return on investment with a membership site is so exponentially bigger!

And wouldn’t it be nice to be able to count on earning that money month after month?

It’s a fantastic steady stream of income that requires only minimal work to maintain. You’ll have to update your content over time to keep ahead of what your members are receiving and you’ll want to always have a bit of marketing going so you are always adding new members to replace the old ones that drop off.

But this is SO much better than the alternative – selling once and earning once, versus selling once and earning lots, often 5 to 10 times per sale!

Wow!

So what’s the catch, yes… unfortunately there is a bit of a catch to all this…

Membership site are traditionally very hard to set up. The software programs usually required cost hundreds to thousands of dollars and you need a programmer just to install the thing.

The other downside is that often membership site owners get bogged down in having to create new content for there members all the time and simply can’t keep up.

So while the potential for astounding profits is certainly there, there are some hurdles to over come before you can enjoy that fantastic residual income month after month.

Certainly, membership sites should be a part of your online money making strategy.
